Music that celebrates the spirit of jazz & the soul of Brasil!

Brasilia is an outstanding Brazilian jazz group that features the extraordinary and versatile vocals of Pamela Driggs and the original compositions and arrangements of Ted Moore. Together, Ms. Driggs and Mr. Moore first formed the idea for Brasilia several years ago because of their enduring passion for Brazilian music in general and bossa nova specifically. In their first album for Kokopelli Records, River Wide, they have created some of the most sensitive and resourceful music of the Brazilian jazz genre to come along in years.

On River Wide, the musicians of Brasilia find common purpose in translating the Brazilian samba, bossa and baiao vision of Moore and Driggs into a cohesive program characterized by exuberant rhythms and seductive melodies.

"Some of the most sensitive and resourceful practitioners of the music to come along in years... the affection the members of Brasilia have for the Brazilian genre is evident," raves Jazziz magazine

Credit the duo's strong sense of thematic development and inventive arranging concepts for a program that evolves with an uncommon blend of logic and emotion.

"...Brasilia is definitely a band to watch" says JazzTimes magazine

The Symphonic Side of the Brasilia Sound

In February of 2005, Brasilia premiered their new dynamic arrangements for symphony orchestra of music from River Wide. The concerts took place with Brasilia as guest artists with the Rochester Philharmonic and with the Vancouver Symphony.

As the audiences found out in Rochester and Vancouver, it's truly exciting to hear this music expanded to symphonic proportions. On Saturday night in Rochester, the audience, in fact, was on its feet prior to the end of the show, being swept away by the power and emotion of the performance.
